Not so Grippy

I switched from the Pirelli Diablo Strata on my 08 Z1000 to save a few bucks and honestly I've not been real happy. I do push the tire more than I would say a normal sport tourer would, but I do feel that it is too much on the stiff side. I find my rear slipping out when I go across the big white crosswalk paint while making a left turn under moderate acceleration. It's lack of sticky makes my favorite back roads a little less exciting. The tire also performs poorly in rainy conditions. When It wears out I'll be happy to bring back the Pirelli.

    Great Tires

I have used these tires before when I owned a BMW K1200GT. The were excellent on that bike and I was hoping that they would help the poor performane of my current bike, a Kawasaki C14 (Concorse 1400). The bike came with Bridgestones. They were so bad that I was considering getting ride of the bike and going back to another BMW. I Thought I would change the tires and give it anotehr chance to see if the handling would improve. Heck, when I left the shop with the new tires I almost turned into a parked car! One only miminal pressure to make a turn with these and they stick like no tomorrow! It improved the handling of my bike alot. Iknow from past experience that they wet handling of these tires is excellent. The bottom line here is this is a great all around tire that will outlast any of the competitors. Additional Comments On Apr 25, 2011:These tires should be used in combination with another Z6 tire as they work in conjunction to disperse water.

    Balance Issues ZRX1100

Mounted this tire and took it to the local shop to have it balanced. It took over an ounce (8 squares) to balance this tire. I don't think its a wheel issue as the last tire balanced with 2 squares. Ok so it was a lot of weight but I figured at least it balanced. The only problem is I get a wheel hop between 40 and 47 mph. I've had to run this tire as is for a few months since I can't afford a new one right now. I will purchase another tire soon and it will not be this model. I did buy the back tire too and it seems to work fine and balance ok. Traction is good in both straight and cornering but not happy with the front wheel hop. I've checked all my fork components and they are fine and set as they have been for the last year (with a different tire mounted) with no issues. I even took the tire to another shop and had the balance checked. It may be just one bad tire but I'm not impressed with these so far. Metzler is usually much better.
